2007 Workshop on Charging Issues in Experimental Gravity

last modified 2008-04-10 21:31

Noise from electric charges is a major issue in experimental gravity - and LISA is no exception. This July 26-27 workshop at MIT brings together leading experts on the subject.

The workshop is designed for experimentalists working on all projects in gravity (including LIGO, LISA, Virgo, GP-B, laboratory measurements of G, etc.) to come together and discuss noise from electric charge on test masses. There will be formal prepared talks on the status of major experiments, experimental measurements of electrical properties, methods of charge mitigation, as well as plenty of time for informal discussions, lab tours, and other networking opportunities. The workshop will immediately follow the LSC/Virgo meeting for the convenience of those attending both (note, only LIGO Science Collaboration and Virgo members will be able to attend the LSC/Virgo meeting).

For more information, including how to register, see the workshop webpage or contact Gregg Harry.
