GWIC 2008 Thesis Prize announced
The Gravitational Wave International Committee (GWIC), a body that promotes worldwide collaboration and cooperation in the construction, operation and use of gravitational wave detectors, has announced its 2008 Thesis Prize for gravitational wave research.
if you know of a student who has written an outstanding Ph.D. thesis on gravitational waves this year, please consider nominating her or him for the GWIC Thesis Prize that has just been announced.
The GWIC Thesis Prize will be awarded each year; to be eligible for the 2008 prize, a thesis must have been accepted by the degree-granting institution between January 1 and December 31, 2008. The 2008 prize comes with an award of $1000 and a certificate of recognition. It will be presented at the Eigth Amaldi Conference on Gravitational Waves, which will be held in New York City June 21-26, 2009.
The nomination period will start approximately November 1, 2008 and run to January 15, 2009.
